Six years ago, give or take. When my crew and I first saved Earth and I became the youngest Captain in the history of Starfleet.

We have the Avengers for saving the world shit. They're not very good at it though.

Never really heard of them. I like to think my crew's done very well on a number of world-saving occasions, though.

Big ones? Three. But we've helped other people during different missions, a little all over the galaxy. Things in smaller scale can be just as important.

That's what I believe.

The Avengers never do small scale.

Well, that really depends on a lot of factors.

Starfleet's a pretty big organization, spread out all over almost half of the galaxy. By the name alone it doesn't sound like the Avengers are something quite so big. How many are there?

Six to seven white people with powers, more or less. Though when T'challa was here, he said things had changed up.

Maybe more people join later on. But as it is, seven people sounds like very little to be focusing on every issue of a smaller scale. Even if they have powers, and even when sticking to just the one planet.

Did you ever ask him how things had changed?

Why not? Don't you believe things could have changed? In the Avengers, in the world - in Wakanda?

Maybe some places.

But no Wakanda.

Because to change, they have to understand why.

And they don't understand anything. Not pain, not suffering. Nothing.

Maybe that too has changed. Or will change, in the future.

Besides, everything has to change in order to survive, sooner or later. It's no different for them.

Words can still hurt. They can do so much damage. Knowing where you're from, what you've seen in your life, you of all people should know that.

And it hurts me, hearing it. I don't want you to call yourself that. I don't want you to see yourself as that.

I dunno if I can carve that out.

You can do anything you want. It's a whole new life you have. You have as much right as everyone else to build yourself a new future. It doesn't mean you should forget what you've gone through, or what you've done, but you don't have to be that person for the rest of your days.
