Damn, that sucks. It is kind of inevitable, but still.

It's inevitable in the sense that every species will eventually go extinct, one way or the other. But mankind's role on it could've been avoided in the extinction of a lot of species on Earth. Anyway, yes, it sucks.

Is there any species you'd like to see?

Humpback whales. I love whales, they're my favorite animal.

Tigers would be pretty cool, too.

Huh. We still have those. Whales and tigers.

We do have some whales. Just not humpback whales. Between hunting and ocean pollution, they eventually went extinct, sometime in the early 21st century if I remember right. Tigers existed in captivity for a long time, but repopulating in the wild was just not feasible after a while. I guess there are a few small groups that still exist in captivity, but it's not the same. It's a shame, they're really wonderful animals.

What's your favorite animal?

Dunno, never really thought about it. Maybe the black mamba. In Africa, we call it the seven step snake. One bite and it takes seven steps to die.

Wow. Guess I shouldn't have expected "I'm a dog person".

That's pretty cool, though. I've never seen a black mamba. Have you?

Yeah, once. They're different from normal snakes. More aggressive. You have to really stay out of their way or they will come after you.

Yeah p. much. There are many deadly African animals but very few look for a fight.

And I've managed to find one of them. Amazing.

C'mon, like you don't have a knack for getting into trouble.

Maybe a little. But I don't go looking for it as much anymore.

What do you go looking for?

Excitement, adventure. Something new. Constant discovery.

[scarcastically]

I imagine trouble follows that too.

All too often, yes.

That seems to be the trend.
