[ He clinks his glass against Erik's this time, for a proper toast. ]

[scarcastically]

[ he smiles at that. ]

That's so cheesy, man.

[winscenario]

[ Jim laughs, nodding unabashedly. ]

Yes, yes it is. And I mean it wholeheartedly, so don't you dare make fun of me, Stevens.

[ Nudging his foot under the table. ]

[scarcastically]

[ that's not my name, he thinks to himself. but names are a complicated thing in erik's life. he nudges jim back with his foot playfully. ]

Well, damn. That cuts down on all the shit I can say.

[winscenario]

[ It's the name Erik gave him, so it's the one he goes with.

He narrows his eyes at Erik. ]

Oh, really? So that's all you'd say to me, just make fun of me? Rude.

[scarcastically]

Damn right. And proud of it.

[winscenario]

You would, as all rude boys are. [ He winks at Erik, teasing him while he sips on his drink. ]

[scarcastically]

Ain't no shame in it.

[ and he's been shamed for so much. ]

[winscenario]

No, I guess not.

[ He was once a very rude boy too, so he can't talk much. ]

Can I... make a strange request?

[scarcastically]

[ his eyebrows go up, but erik leans back. ]

Sure. Hit me.

[winscenario]

The last time... [ He presses his lips in, hesitant. ]

When we held hands. That felt really nice. Can we do that again?

[ Because it's about more than just Erik letting him, though, Jim adds. ] Do you want to?

[scarcastically]

[ erik considers this before shrugging. ]

Sure.

[ more chroma is good. it felt good too. beyond that, erik wasn't trying to analyze too much. it treads dangerous ground. ]

[winscenario]

[ Jim smiles. He's not really asking for more than that, so that's more than enough for now. He moves his seat closer to Erik's, so he can stretch his hand out and wait for Erik to meet him halfway. ]

[scarcastically]

[ it's always a little slow. not from hesitation, that much is clear, but from being new, unused to this form of expression. erik's never held hands with anyone, unless it's with some ulterior goal in mind.

and this could be one, but his mind finds it hard to slot it in. but he does reach out. ]

[winscenario]

[ Jim can't say it's a very usual thing for him either, though he has held hands with some people before. Still, that makes this all the nicer, he thinks. He feels that instant warmth that spreads through him at the first contact, and he slides his palm until it presses against Erik's, his fingers brushing against the inside of Erik's own, trying to loosely weave them together. ]

[scarcastically]

[ his hands were one of the few places erik didn't scar. mostly because it would have made his line of work difficult, but because the kill scars aren't designed for delicate nerves near the hand.

he thinks about this now because all erik remembers for most of his life is remembered pain and nothing else. ]

[winscenario]

[ The skin on Erik's hands is smooth, and Jim runs his thumb across the back in a slow and gentle touch. He doesn't mind the scars on Erik's torso and arms at all, in fact he finds them fascinating-- not that he's asked what they are or what they mean, but he has a feeling it might be something Erik wouldn't be so keen on talking about.

But the contrast is nice. Something rough that goes hand in hand with something soft. Maybe Erik might be quick to say that he can't be both, but Jim is of a different opinion. ]

[scarcastically]

[ erik nudges him with his foot. ]

You're thinking somethin' sappy.

[winscenario]

[ His smile turns a little sheepish, and he ducks his head only briefly. Then he shrugs. ]

What if I am? Is that such a bad thing?

[ Glancing at Erik, ] Do you want to know what I'm thinking?

[scarcastically]

I'm not a mind-reader.

[ he waggles his eyebrows. ]

I just know a sappy expression when I see one.

[winscenario]

I don't know, I'm not that hard to read.

[ His smile twitches a little at the corner, and he tugs on Erik's hand. ]

I was just thinking you're sweet. With me, anyway. I like it, it makes me feel... good.

[scarcastically]

Yeah?

[ a sly smirk. ]

I ain't against that.

[winscenario]

You better not be. It's all your doing.

[ Well, not all, but he's just teasing. Leaning in before Erik can stop him, he presses a quick kiss to his lips, still keeping his hand sequestered in a firm hold. ]

[scarcastically]

[ erik shakes his head, amused, as he responds to the kiss slowly. ]

[winscenario]

[ See, he is sweet, Jim is so right. He smiles against Erik's lips, cupping his face with his free hand, stealing a few more little pecks before he pulls away again. ]
